Individual Waste Segregation – The Technology Changing Habits in Śrem
Śrem Embraces Innovative Waste Management
The "Milionówki" estate in Śrem is the latest in the city to implement the Individual Waste Segregation System by T-MASTER SA – a solution that redefines responsibility, savings, and sustainability in urban areas. These smart containers, designed specifically for multi-family housing, have been in use across Poland for over seven years. More than 20,000 residents benefit from this innovation, which sets a new standard for waste sorting in shared spaces.
Smart systems are already operating in Śrem at locations such as Roweckiego, Ogrodowa, Wojska Polskiego, and Kopernika streets, with more sites joining regularly.
Śrem joined the cities utilizing the T-Master SISO technology in October 2022. The pilot program covered 217 residents from 91 households on Wojska Polskiego Street. To fairly assess the real impact of the pilot system, the city conducted thorough analyses. For instance, from January 1 to April 30, 2023, traditional dumpster areas collected 76% unsorted waste, whereas only 35% of waste in T-MASTER containers was mixed. This indicates an average segregation level of 65% among residents, with some achieving even higher rates.
These results and subsequent positive system use convinced city officials to expand the implementation. New investments are now being made, including at the "Milionówki" estate, along with the installation of the T-Master e-PSZOK247 – an automated municipal waste collection point available 24/7. Residents can now drop off waste at any time without adjusting to traditional center hours.
What is the Individual Waste Segregation System?
T-MASTER SA’s Individual Waste Segregation System (SISO) is a breakthrough in municipal waste management. Drop&Go devices weigh waste and assign it to a household using QR codes on waste bags. This allows residents to track the amount and type of waste they generate. T-Master provides QR stickers assigned to each apartment. Waste data – divided by day, month, and type – is available in the mOdpady app dedicated to residents.
Thanks to a modular design, the containers integrate seamlessly into urban and residential spaces, reducing clutter and improving aesthetics around trash areas.
The system’s functionality significantly improves residents’ quality of life – confirmed by 95% of surveyed users (satisfaction survey, October 2024, Zamość).
Why Implement the T-Master System?
✅ Fair Waste Accounting – Residents are individually responsible for waste sorting, eliminating collective accountability and extra charges due to others’ negligence. (Article 2a, paragraph 1, Polish Waste Management Act, on individual waste accountability in multi-unit buildings).
✅ Cost Savings – Precise data analysis enables municipalities and property managers to optimize waste collection costs. The system provides concrete data on bin fill levels and dominant waste fractions, improving logistics planning.
✅ Cleaner, Safer Neighborhoods – Touch-free, user-friendly, and aesthetically pleasing bins provide resident comfort. Surveillance limits illegal dumping and disorder. Individual electronic keys (one-time QR codes) restrict access to authorized users only, excluding outsiders and pests, ensuring hygiene.
✅ Education & Transparency – Waste data by day, month, and fraction is available in the mOdpady app. This motivates responsible habits and environmental awareness.
Śrem as a Smart City Model
Śrem’s choice of T-Master SA devices is no coincidence. The city consistently invests in technologies that improve daily life and support environmental protection. Thanks to T-MASTER SA, residents have effective waste segregation tools, and city authorities gain reliable data for planning and environmental reporting.
Individual Waste Segregation – The Future
Cities worldwide are seeking solutions that reduce waste, engage citizens, and optimize costs. T-MASTER SA’s technology meets these challenges – combining advanced tools, intuitive use, and social responsibility.
